Mar 13th - Tami Mulcahy: Plastic in a Nutshell

Most people think about the plastic crisis as an environmental issue, which it is. But that’s the tip of the plastic iceberg. What needs equal air time is the insidious impact of plastic on human health, especially women and children, and the fallout of consumerism on the global south and people of poverty. How can you help? Learn, act, and then amplify the message.

Tami Mulcahy is an advocate for all things water. She worked locally with GreenTownLosAltos to educate on stormwater pollution and pushed for policy changes to maximize residential rain capture. Gravely concerned about the impact of plastic on marine ecosystems, she joined ESRAG (Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group) and now serves as co-leader of the Plastic Solutions Task Force. As a prior physical therapist, she finds the health ramifications particularly deserving of a bullhorn. Tami is also a singer-songwriter whose song Part of the Solution is a call to everyone to “be...part of the solution”.
